In town for business and this location was recommended. They do not have a wait staff so you need to order from the bar or the window at the kitchen. Good menu for bar food. Very diverse. I enjoyed the tomatoes soup paired with 4 cheeses grilled cheese. And They are very dog friendly.

I gotta give the Bulldog 5 stars because even though it does not pass Ms. B's litmus test for bars (can I drink here alone on a weeknight without feeling sad/worried?) the clientele, atmosphere and beer selection combine to make the Bulldog one of the most comfortable after-work and evening watering holes in Red Stick for me. And if you desire, you can easily find a new favorite beer from the wide tap selection. Why? Because I attended grad school at LSU and I was not 25. As a thirtysomething woman, I found it darn hard to visit a bar alone or with one female friend without feeling 1) old or 2) crowded out by noise, smoke and leering men. No, I'm not flattering myself. "Leering" means that look that guys give women when they're in bars alone or with a friend that says "you don't belong here, this is my man cave/meat market/drink to blackout club". Maybe I have been a teacher too long and crossed paths with too many current and former students (and students' parents) in bars, but I am super-sensitive to the age range in a bar, especially in Baton Rouge. The Chimes bar does a decent job of welcoming all stripes to their bar, but it's so crowded and group-y that I don't feel super relaxed there. Though I never found a bar where I could read a newspaper alone in Baton Rouge, the Bulldog has friendly bartenders, 30-40 somethings in the clientele on early after-work times (I pretended I was employed instead of toiling away at an art degree), attractive and comfortable outdoor seating AND indoor seating that lets you pretend you have one of those Acadian-style brick McMansions, complete with a cookie cutter living room decorated with large fleur de lis knick knacks, "distressed" coffee tables, and deep chocolate leather chairs. Also, I appreciate the "historic" smell of the hardwood floorboards. It gets a little dark to see facial expressions at night, but this is a pre-sunset spot for me. I really appreciate a bar that welcomes the over 30 crowd. I'd avoid the place on Wednesday nights, even though many of my 20-something friends stock their cabinets with the free pint glasses, and order the fried spring rolls. It's a playful twist on deep fried finger food with a little bit of fresh veggie thrown in.

Probably one of the worst bars in Baton Rouge, that I've been to anyways. My biggest complaint is the music - no, not the selection, but the volume. If you plan on talking to anyone at all during the night, this probably isn't the place to go. You will be yelling at the top of your lungs to make yourself heard over the music. Second complaint - the beers are super pricey. You can go down the road to rotolo's or chimes and get them cheaper in a nicer atmosphere. The plusses: It seems to be the place to be. This place gets super packed. Also, they have a night where you get to keep your pint glass, so now I've got a few bulldog glasses sitting in my cupboard. I really wouldn't recommend going here unless you're going with a bunch of friends who are already drunk and just want to unwind instead of talking, and if you have a lot of money to blow. The patio is pretty nice, and the couches are comfy inside, so if you're tired from all that drinking at more reasonably priced places, it's a good place to end the night.
(2)Alicia R.
This place is a really great bar! They have a ton of beers (a giant menu of beer) on tap and draft and the setting is really nifty. Inside seating was too smoky for me. I'm not used to indoor smoking so we sat out back. The outdoor seating is really nice because the trees light up, there's an outdoor bar, and a really cool fountain with water coming out taps. Not to mention fans to blow a constant breeze on my hot butt. I didn't roast like a pig so it's a plus. I don't drink beer so I got a Malibu and pineapple juice. Delicious! The food was a little overpriced. 7 bucks for some french fries (that were delicious yes) is still too much for me. I'd definitely go again so I recommend it for all y'all
(4)Sean C.
I feel guilty for going with 3 stars, but I didn't eat here, so I don't have much of an opinion on the food. I did enjoy a couple of cold beers on the patio. Friendly staff, and great beer selection. Parking is pretty terrible during the happy hour time, but other than that, no complaints here. I will come back and try the food so I can update my review.
(3)Trey B.
One of my favorite bars in Baton Rouge. The selection of beers is one of the best in the city. It seems as though the taps go on forever. Can get pretty crowded on some nights.
(4)Adam F.
I'm here from outta town, Los Angeles to be specific. This is the best bar in baton rouge by far. GREAT beers on tap, very friendly bar staff, great burgers and the cooks are funny too. I also went there on pint night (Wednesday), fun, but maybe a little too crowded. Oh and the most beautiful coed patrons I've seen at a bar yet here in baton rouge
(5)Will S.
We were there from 9-10:30ish on a Wednesday and it wasn't too bad, but I heard it can get packed later on. Huge beer selection. Drinks are reasonably priced...maybe slightly more than other places. Service is really non-existent; there are no servers and you have to go to bar to order drinks, which seems like it would be a lot of trouble if really crowded. Definitely attracts a young crowd (Mid-late 20s) Music is controlled using a Smartphone app where people can buy their songs and vote up songs in the queue. $1 for 10 credits. 10 credits = 1 song of choice (pricey) or you can do a random song by an artist for 3 credits. My only issue is smoking is allowed. Being from Atlanta, I haven't been to a bar that has allowed smoking in a while. Had to drop it a 1 star. If you don't mind that then consider it a 4 star establishment.
(3)May S.
Bar staff is great. Beer selection amazing. Food if you want, including a pretty full menu. We went in for a post movie drink. If the place was smoke free, we prob would've stayed longer. I've been here before but didn't remember all the smoke! I do love the atmosphere. Good energy, fun music game on the TV screen above the bar, and a really beautiful selection of draft beer. The crowd is mixed, young and older than your average young urban professional. And everyone gets carded at the door! So you get to feel good if you're way past the age to get carded.
(4)John N.
I love that the Bulldog is no longer a smoking establishment. The Abita Beer on tab is great and I'd highly recommend the onion rings.
(5)Kelsey S.
The Bulldog never fails to put a smile on my face. Whether I'm there to pregame, talk with friend or get a free pint glass on Wednesday's free pint night, I always have a great. There is also a food menu, but the beer menu is better.
(4)Karli S.
Heyyyyy a place where I can bring my puppy dog AND drink beer with my friends? I don't know about y'all, but I wish they had more places like this. The Bulldog is a totally laid back place to hang out on any night. It has much more of a pub type atmosphere, rather than that of a lot of the trashy college bars around tigerland. Baton Rouge is seeing a lot more "mature" places like this pop up, and I'm pretty happy about it. You can't have your dog just chilling indoors, obviously (not that I haven't tried breaking this rule once or twice); but you can go in, get your drink, and go sit with your furry bestie on the awesome back patio. If you're looking for somewhere to hang out and drink, but you don't want to see some underaged kid puking, random people grinding, or douchey (can I say that word?) fights breaking out every 30 minutes --- congratulations, this is the place for you.
(5)Mandy V.
I can't believe there aren't more places like this around. I went on a Saturday night to have a few beers, eat and sit in the sun on the patio. They have a large tv which means it would be a good place to watch football! But the best part was all the puppies there. I absolutely cannot wait to bring my pups. I have been looking for a place like this since I moved here! The crowd is a little older (at least for the time I was there). I didn't see any 18 year olds like I was expecting...maybe they come out later or on a different night? Anyway, there is a vast selection of beer and a pretty decent food menu. Can't wait to go back!
(5)Kelsey W.
I love that you can bring your dog and sit on the patio, I plan to in the future. I HATE that you can still smoke in bars in Louisiana. A girl does not want to get dressed up to go out (potentially washing, drying, and styling hair) and then have to shower AGAIN when she gets home because everything smells like smoke. I like the atmosphere they've got going on, it's mellow and comfy, with a large selection of beers. The bar food is good, the drinks are good, the service is good, but until I can sit somewhere and enjoy a drink without a cloud of cigarette smoke blowing into my space, I will limit how often I come here.
(3)Scott R.
I absolutely love this place but the smoke really sucks. Cut out smoking and this place is five stars! No smoking any longer-5 stars!
(5)Kristen C.
On Thanksgiving my bf and I were craving a nice drink, quick food and a lively atmosphere. So after driving around the city looking for an open establishment we stumbled across the The Bulldog. As we entered we admired the dark but lively scene. I am a sucker for aesthetics--especially when it sets a particular mood like---rebellion. I ordered a double shot patron and cranberry and when I say it was just what the doctor ordered--it was just that and more. However, after a sip I felt hunger pangs so I went to the grub menu and felt like trying something outside of the typical burger and fries. I ordered crawfish banditos which were supposed to be STUFFED with crawfish, mixed cheeses and a blend of special spices. It should have been labeled for what it actually is!!! A crawfish and cheese wrap that looks like an eggroll. When I bit into it I could of spit it out right there but I decided to be classy instead. I did not like the plastic-tasting cheese and the five or so seasonLESS crawfish tails that were hidden within the gooey collousal of luke warm plastic cheese. Needless to say I was very disappointed. I would rate the food that night as below average but the bartender worked very hard and deserving of his tip. I'll be sure to give it another around but I think I'll eat before I come and just stick to drinks and music.
(3)Paul N.
Very nice bar. Good crowd. Good food. Good times. Their is a nice patio out back. I like the setup. The food station is separate from the bar.
(5)Patricia P.
This place is great- but possibly under staffed. The cook has a bad attitude and says things like "oh God" or "ugh" when people walk up to the window to order.. He seems overwhelmed and flustered. I love this place but rude individuals especially ones who handle food I've order are a big turn off. Everything else is great!
(3)Jesse T.
Love the beer selection here! From Dallas and the taps are very varied. College crowd is a little overwhelming though.
(4)Meghan K.
Give me a bar with a good patio and it automatically gets props from me. It has a great outside with a fountain and lots of tables and chairs. The hanging baskets everywhere are a nice touch as well. It feels super homey out there. They even have a little bar set up as well. I'm not a big fan of inside as it's really dark and you can smoke in there too. It also gets super crowded, especially on Wednesdays when it's pint night. I also find the prices to be a tad bit on the high side. The inside just isn't my style, but I'm sure it's super nice to some people: tv's with nice leather couches etc. I would totally swing on by if I was you and check them out.
(3)Devon P.
I've only been once and it was for pint night but I have to say, the vibe was excellent. I enjoyed the music and the bartender recommended a great beer for my picky pallet. It's too loud for an after work hang out or first date (which was my case) but overall, very cool place to drink and watch a game.

To get one's beer on in Baton Rouge, one must do so here at The Bulldog on Perkins. Aside from being one of the more popular bars in the city, this sister location of the original New Orleans institution has the kind of variety that would get any beer lover's attention. Regulars of the NOLA location should notice one thing immediately: BR's version is far nicer. It's not just that its newer, it's got its own standalone space, a prettier rendition of the beer tap fountain, ample parking, and a more modern interior. The best part? They haven't managed to compromise their love of beer and have even added a heartier selection of food. Instead of all of the bougie or less than stellar nightlife spots throughout BR, there is always a mix of young and old professionals here either getting rowdy over an LSU / Saints game or just sitting at a table and catching up over a drink. I still have yet to try what I'm told is one of the best burger spots in town, which I'll make sure to do my next time in town. Service is a tad spotty at times, but still amiable for the most part. Prices feel a little high for the area, but the selection (besides Chimes) is practically unparalleled. One notable thing I haven't seen in most places? They're dog friendly. Nothing like pounding a beer with man's best friend rooting you on.
(4)Stephen L.
Wednesday happy hour - you get a free pint glass from the beer you order. Great beer selection, Nice bar inside and and outddor patio with plenty of seating
(4)Chris P.
Great bar, intimidating tap selection and good music. Outdoor patio is nice. Gets wild on Wednesday nights.
(5)Tod B.
I am in town on business and stopped by to check out The Bulldog. Staff was great!! Went on pint night and collected a set of 4 glasses. Bar staff was knowledgeable about the selection of tap beers that they offered. Had a TurboDog Chicken Sandwich which was delicious as well. I would definitely go back.
(5)Trevor R.
One of the top bars in Baton Rouge. I'm a fan of Irish/English pubs and beer so naturally I love the BullDog. They have a very large selection of Beers and is rotates their Guinness kegs more than most other places which is a plus. It has a great atmosphere and there is always good people there. Especially on wednesdays when you can keep your glasses. I've been to the one in New Orleans and I actually like the layout in this one better. The patio here is much better imo.
(5)Chris Y.
Best bar staff & selection in BR. If Ramona is behind the bar, it's going to be an excellent experience. Bring man's best friend with you, and enjoy the patio.
(4)Matt D.
Good bar but incredibly smoky. I can usually deal with smoking bars but this place I always need a shower after.
(3)Roger D.
Nice place. 81 beers on tap. Good food. Good music. Friendly customers and wait staff. I recommend this place...
(4)Meg P.
I love this place, especially the outdoor patio area! Service is always fast & good, even when it's busy. As an added bonus, you can bring your dog in with you! It's always clean & isn't one of those bars that leaves non-smokers gasping for air or your clothes smelling like an ashtray. My only wish is that they didn't stop serving food at 10pm.
(5)C K.
Toto, we're not in New Orleans anymore.. But seriously! A friend and I were doing an away rotation in Baton Rouge last month and decided to check out the BR Bulldog one night and we were pleasantly surprised to find a more beautiful and cleaner version of The Bulldog that we have come to know and love in New Orleans. Place is way more spacious, the back is beautiful and the fountain is probably nicer than Magazine street too. I don't know if I should feel guilty cheating on the original Bulldog, it's not that I like this one any more than Magazine street.. I just like it different. That's okay, right? ;)
(4)David C.
Best beer selection in Baton Rouge. The burgers and salads are better than most restaurants in Baton Rouge. There is plenty of seating both inside and outside on the patio, but it can get crowded (especially on Wednesday nights.) I almost forgot to mention, they donate to animal charities on a regular basis! Amazing beer selection, killer food, and they love animals--what more could you ask for?
(5)Daniel M.
Tons O' Beer. Bottled and Draft. High Prices. Great Patio (you can bring your dog). Keep your glass on Wednesday. Cool place to cruise for chicks (unless it's crowded and then you don't cruise as much as bump into...). Food is good and cooked to order. I wish it wasn't so expensive or I'd be here more.
(4)Kimberly A.
Great outdoor seating area on beautiful Baton Rouge evenings. They have a firepit and ample heating lamps on those chilly evenings. They provide water bowls and blankets for the fur babies in the winter months. Gotta love any place that supports our furry friends! Wednesday Pint Night is a must. You can take home your pint glasses and then when you gather 20 you can 'sell' them back to The Bulldog, get a free t-shirt and the BD gives to the ASPCA. It is a Win Win
(4)Kyle W.
One of the few New Orleans transplant establishments that Baton Rouge didn't mess up. The Bulldog has become a go to on my trips back home to BR. Although it still doesn't hold a candle to the Magazine St location in NOLA, it does well in its own different way in BR. The vibe is less sloppy dancing and more of a place where you sit down/get a drink and catch up with friends. If you're a young professional (post college-30's) this is probably a more age appropriate spot for you, and a good alternative to the younger LSU establishments. Definitely a slightly more mature crowd here The beer selection here rivals the one at The Chimes. The Bulldog has an assorted amount of seating. From bench/German beer hall style seating, to stools, to couches, to outdoor iron furniture. Also it is a clean bar...something of a rarity in Baton Rouge. Nothing like slipping and sliding on urine soaked floors. This is probably due to the drunken frat party mess that is Baton Rouge. Glad one of you New Orleans establishments is doing all right in Baton Rouge.
(4)Dione M.
Great atmosphere, especially for people my age (post college 20's)! A little pricey ($7 for one beer) but worth it if you are willing to pay!
(4)Mike C.
If you want a place with great food and great selection of beers on tap for the game, come to Bulldog. Hands-down one of the BEST places to watch the LSU/Saints game and everyone is into the game. The staff is friendly, and the seating is spacious and comfortable. I will say that the only thing that keeps me away at times, is the prices, when my pocket money is low.
(4)Ashley A.
Bless you, you sweet beautiful oasis! Second night in Baton Rouge, and we catch word of a bar, nay, a "pub", with 80 beers on tap. Eyes brightened, mouths drooled, keys were grabbed and we hustled our way over post haste. The indoor bar is massive, well staffed and has table seating for 2- up to to 6-tops, as well as what appears to be a mock "study" with overstuffed chairs and antique leather couches (or so it appeared in the dark in my zealous rush to the bar). The outdoor area has ample wrought iron seating, a central fire pit and an incredible beer tap fountain fixture. The heaters were on even though it was only 60 out, but it sure was nice to cozy up with my import. Mark my words, my dog and I will be here often, and by often, I mean several times a week. Bonus: check out what's on tap before you go! bulldog-batonrouge.draft…
(4)Marcy S.
Probably the best place to have drinks in town if you're not still in college. The atmosphere is nice and it's not too young of a crowd. You can also bring your dog and sit outside on the patio which is great!
(5)C D G.
Great beer selection, knowledgeable bar staff and comfortable atmosphere is what you'll find at the Bulldog. We went in on a Saturday afternoon and the crowd was surprisingly thin. I will say this though, the patrons that were there were doing their best to entertain. Several drunk biker chicks were singing along with the bar music and their chain smoking companions were pulling some wicked backup. We had a few drafts and decided to head out of this obviously low point for this great bar. I'm going back to give it another shot. Hopefully the clientele will be improved.
(3)Andrea V.
Like any good yelper, I did my homework on this one, specifically to review the beer selection & happy hour promotions. So, after a visit to the dog park, husband & I took the pooch here. The outside patio was great - plenty of shade & fans to keep the air circulating. We had brought our own dog bowl for water, but realized that they did have some available (good to know for next time). I will have to save a further review for the interior as well as actual service; since we sat outside & it was early, husband had to go in to get our drinks & nachos, but from my end that moved pretty quickly. Also, a big surprise for us was what was new on tap: Magic Hat #9. See, I married a New Englander, so the quest for New England brews is a never-ending adventure. We have both been happy enough to find Harpoon, but finding #9 was the little cherry on top of our happy hour. I know we'll be back, but it was a welcome treat to be able to go somewhere dog friendly, for GOOD beers no less.
(4)Nroop B.
One of the most happening sports bar & grill with interesting setting I've visited outside NJ area. It was unfortunate not be a LSU football fan and be there! I recommend roasted garlic hummus with warm pita and outside patio.
(4)Jodie B.
The Bulldog is for us mid 20's-30's folk who are too old for Bogey's/Tigerland and too young for Sullivans/Ringside. Likes: -atmosphere & lighting -music selection -drink selection & pricing -lounge area with couches & lamps Dislikes: -smoking indoors (booooooooo BIG turn off- I'm surprised that's still allowed ANYWHERE) -music volume - if it were turned down a TINY bit, I wouldn't have to yell in the ear of the person sitting next to me. That would be sort of nice. Ability to have a non-yelling conversation is good.
(4)Naveed B.
When The Bulldog opened here I was excited. The original Bulldog on Magazine in New Orleans was a place where all sorts came. My hopes were dashed when The Bulldog opened in Baton Rouge and quickly became the post college Frat-boy bar. I give it three stars based on the fact that they have an amazing beer selection and on Wednesdays you get to keep the beer glasses. It gets terribly noisy in here and horribly crowded though. Also it takes quite a while to get a beer when it is packed. The food here is actually pretty good and I am quite fond of the outdoor patio. Not the my favorite place in Baton Rouge, but certainly not the worst.
(3)Mary Walker B.
This bar is originally in New Orleans, so you automatically know it's good. Wide range of beer selections. Great burgers and fries and other typical bar food. Outdoor seating area is amazing. You can even bring your dog!! The best part is that on Wednesdays they give away their amazing glass cups with funny sayings/jokes or cool pictures on them.
(5)Byoung Kyu S.
Cool place. Love the patio. Banana beer was good. The Bacon beer was awesome!
(4)Brandon H.
Great beer selection. Many regional varieties and a many imports as well. The atmosphere is great. Outside in the patio area, when it's not too hot, is a great place to relax, and drink a beer or six. I've had quite a few beers sitting, talking, and watching the water flow though the draft fountain like so much clear beer. While the atmosphere is nice, the crowd is mostly made up of very preppy kids drinking their parents hard earned money, and the staff is a bunch of amateurs who are either unwilling, or unable to serve the large crowds that this place pulls. Be prepared to wait on the staff until they decide it's time to wait on you.
(3)Sean W.
This is a great place to grab a brew and a burger WITH YOUR DOG(s)! The Bulldog is a dog friendly english style bar that supplies one of the largest beer selections in BR, with a ton of draught and bottled beer and wine options, as well as full liquor bar. The kitchen makes decent bar food, and portion sizes are respectable. The inside bar is a little loud for conversations without raising your voice, so I prefer the back patio area. From what I've seen good wait staff is pretty much non-existent in this place, but the bartenders try to be quick when you walk up to the bar to order your next round of beers, so I keep coming back regardless of the disregard for providing appropriate service. FYI, Dogs are usually limited to being outside on the back fenced in patio, where there's a large splashy fountain that attempts to relieve some of the stifling hotness that is a South Louisiana summer. One cool thing that stands right in the face of the poor service comments is that when you sit with your dog(s), they quickly bring your pup his/her own water dish. You could say the service for the pups is better than the service for the people. There's also a small outside bar that opens for service once enough people are sitting outside. All in all, the clean comfortable environment, the awesome beer selection, the pricing, the decent food, and the dog friendly atmosphere warrants 3.5 - 4 star ratings. Basically I think it's a great place to hang out with friends for happy hour... especially if you're a dog person.
(4)Aimee A.
My favorite bar (so far) in Baton Rouge! Fantastic draft beer selection (any place that has Carlsberg on tap is a-okay in my book)! Great outdoor patio space. Dogs are allowed. The clientele is a mix of professionals and college students. They do (nearly) nightly drink specials, my favorite being Pint Night where you get to keep all your pint glasses (Wednesday night if you're wondering). Parking situation is decent. Bathrooms are clean. Service is good. Really, I don't have any complaints!
(5)Emily C.
This is a great new place for anyone who loves beer. This is mostly a bar, but they do serve food as well. If you want food you have to place an order with a bartender, they give you one of those flashing disks you get when waiting on a table at a restaurant, then you go get the food yourself at a pick up window when it is ready. They have burgers, fried chicken tenders, chili fries, etc... typical bar grub that only tastes good when you've had too much to drink. There is a full bar and more than 80 different beers on tap (see the full list on their website). They will let you sample the beers if you can't decide what you want. The prices are reasonable, but can range up to $10 a pint (maybe more) for the premium beers like Chimay, etc. Smoking is allowed in this establishment because it is primarily a bar and the food is minimal. It gets pretty stinky inside, but there is a patio in the back that now has a bartender as well. Dogs are allowed on the back patio and they even provide water bowls. There is no cover on the patio currently. Hopefully that will change or it will no longer be quite so inviting as the summer comes along. The happy hour specials are not really very special ($.50 of pints, $1 off pitchers). And the bartenders aren't really that friendly (contrary to what their website advertises). Finally, the parking sucks. Thus, 4 stars, not five.
(4)Steve H.
great fucking LA beer selection yo. i'm talking nola, tin roof, abita & too many others to list. good mix of a mostly young crowd, college, working people, professionals. indoors its loud & smoky so you'll have to move your ass out back near the fountains if that ain't your scene. the bartenders are taking a beating in the reviews but phil is cool, you gotta realize what they dealing with. me likes the bulldog. if you real thirsty give it a shot. (growling)
(4)Newly P.
I've been here with friends a few times, We usually go for the outdoor seats. I think I prefer that because people can smoke indoors which can create a stifling atmosphere for non-smokers. The Bulldog is a standard bar with the usual trivia nights, happy hours and pub fare. I'm not much of a drinker, but I have tried their house wine and I liked it. Their tacos are pretty good (I especially liked the fish taco) and is better than standard pub food. People can also get their dogs to the patio area. All in all, a good place to hang out with friends. Beware, it can get crowded when school's in session though!
(4)L K.
This is one of the places I like to go out with coworkers for a drink after work. Lots of good beers and they have a fun atmosphere.
(4)Gabe R.
As a young whipper snapper, I frequented the NOLA Magazine St Bulldog a lot. I mean a real lot. They have been offering that free glass Wednesday promo for years and at the time, I probably had enough of those to drink in a different glass every day for a year. (Only slightly exaggeratting). Fast forward 12 years and a divorce later and the Uptown New Orleans location furnished my glassware. Fast forward another 5 years and a promotion later and I'm here every Wednesday for a few pints and dinner. I'm older now so I only drink a few. The beer selection at all 3 locations are relatively the same, 50 beers on tap, more on bottle and bartenders that know their stuff. The Baton Rouge local may be the friendliest of the 3. The food is solid. Several good burgers, all with a beer theme. I had the Chimay Blue cheese burger. Really good! The buffalo chicken salad is also a solid choice. The out door patio and fountain area is nice, except that the view has the feel of a suburban strip mall. The inside feel more like the Uptown Nola location with comfy seating and a solid bar. It's rare that from 18-38 you can still enjoy the same bar(drinking age was 18 then in these parts people!). I hope to keep enjoying it when I'm 58. Oh and I have another 2 glasses to add to my glassware.

On our way back home from date night dinner, I decided we needed a drink, so I brought my wife here with me. I had seen this place on Yelp, been to their site, read the menu and other reviews and thought it was maybe a nice place to get a drink with my girl. We were carded at the door, I was like, really? Made me feel young again, and being a college town, I'm actually ok with it. So remember to bring your ID, even if you are of age or far beyond like me. We noticed immediately the smell of cigarette smoke. Los Angeles outlawed smoking in bars like 5 years ago, It's been awhile since I was in a bar with my wife and sure enough she wasn't too happy about it, but we carried on. We found a table near the back door to the patio. We thought about sitting outside, but it was just too cold, even though the bonfire was going. I ordered a Chambord for her and a Wasatch Apricot Hefeweissen for me. Strike two! They didn't serve Chambord and was out of the Wasatch. So I got a Razzmatazz and a Rasputin stout. The Razzmatazz was mostly ice and my Rasputin was very good actually. My wife downed her drink and I downed mine and we were out of there. We spent maybe 20 minutes there tops. When we came out we wreaked of smoke. We liked the atmosphere, the decor and the crowd was actually 30's to 40's with a mix of 20 somethings. It wasn't crowded and the game was on. Maybe we'll go back to try some food and sip some other cocktails another time. In the meantime they should consider dropping the smoke and buying a bottle of Chambord. They had a huge selection of beers on tap and bottled beers to boot. So while they didn't have the beer I wanted, make sure you try something else or new to challenge your palate. If you're a Budweiser or Coors Lite fan, then this place is not for you. Otherwise go check it out.

This was my first visit to the Bulldog, even though it has been open for years. We just picked a random night to go, but it was a bonus to find out that it was pint night and you were able to take the glasses home with you. (WED) We ate before, so we didn't get to try anything from the kitchen; however the staff buzzing around was very cheerful and the bartenders were happy to serve you. The lighting is a bit dim for my preference, but it was welcoming anyways. The beer selection was tremendous, a whole wall had nothing but taps on it. I can't comment on the liquor selection, but they did have the basic crown and coke if that was what you were feeling. Overall, great experience!

Their beer collection is okay. But I guess why people go to Bulldog is for the company. You get to meet so many people. Plus on wednesdays you can take your glasses back home with you. Not that they are great, but yeah! ok! So, basically for my taste it is okay! Not a classy place a such!

Dear Bulldog, Please stop playing loud obnoxious club music during commercial breaks of LSU football games. It's 4:00 in the afternoon and you're supposed to be a laid-back bar where you can hang out and chat with your friends while having a few beers. Even at night the music is a bit loud, especially by the couches. Also, if you could throw in fries with the price of a sandwich, that'd be cool. For bar food where you order at a window, you shouldn't have to pay $15 for a chicken sandwich and fries.

SMOKING IS NO LONGER ALLOWED AT THE BULLDOG!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAYYY!!!!! Dropped by last night for pint night (every Wednesday) and sampled three new beers that were yummy. The chocolate-covered strawberry mix of Guiness and Strawberry Abita made for a really amazing beer flavor, but I then reverted to my personal favorite, a Purple Moon which is a 50-50 mix of Abita Purple Haze and Blue Moon. Delicious!! However, I tried two more menu items, the hot wings and the grilled cheese. The wings were good and the sweetie in the kitchen (who guessed my age at 10 years less than my actual age) listened carefully when I told him how I liked my wings WELL DONE and did a bang up job and the regular wing sauce was very good--not too hot but with good flavor--and they have a super hot option and BBQ as the three choices. I am fighting the temptation to give them my hot raspberry sauce recipe in hopes of adding a 4th wing sauce choice. The REAL star was the AMAZING grilled cheese sandwich. I know--it's a grilled cheese--but it is what EVERY grilled cheese sammie should aspire to become. Served on sourdough bread, it contains 4 kinds of perfectly melted cheese and a crispy crunch--but the bread was a couple of hairs overcooked so if they turned the heat down just a bit the cheese would melt before the bread burns. It was BEYOND delicious though and I would crawl 10 miles on my belly over HOT BROKEN GLASS to get another one. It was SO good I could have rubbed it in my HAIR, so big kudos to the kitchen dude--who was really sweet and patiently listened to me as I described my preferences for both wings and GC sammies and then actually NAILED the prep down to a "T" and if I owned this place you can bet he'd be working for me. The menu is limited but what they do, they do very well and I'd much prefer a smaller menu done correctly than a TGIFridays experience with a 60 page menu and none of it good. I also scored 3 cool glasses to take home (they give you the glass--I don't steal bar glasses LOL) and had a great time. I don't know what they used to clean the bar but I cracked up when the bartender commented that she hadn't smelled the food from the kitchen in years and was so excited to be able to do that again. I don't know what they used to clean up the ventilation system but you could not tell that people used to smoke in there for years, so more kudos for that. I liked it a lot on my last visit, but I LOVE IT even more now. Definitely a great place to grab a beer and a delicious grilled cheese. The music was good too--not too loud although around 9 or so the volume went up but I was ready to go anyway. Drop by and have a beer and a great pub experience!

Get's crowded at times - starting around the bar area - turning a drink order into a pushy-shovey adventure. Some people like that I guess, but I don't. Wednesdays are 'pint night' where as you can keep your decorative pint glass with each beer purchased. Fun, that's when it's the most crowded! I do enjoy bringing my dog and sitting outside as their outdoor patio area is very pleasant. Grab a burger at their grill and make an evening of it, if weather permits!

Belgian beers can be found here! I love the atmosphere especially the outdoor fountain, it gives the feel of a real bier garden! I love the friendly pup environment too! It's so great to pet and mingle with the owners since I'm from Memphis, made new friends! You can find La Trappe Quadruple, Delirium Tremens and Nocturnum here. Triple Karmeliet too. That's all I remember at the moment. My new fave is Crown of the Valley Strawberry Cider. Currently on tap, cold and delicious! It's crazy, but somehow it's sweeter on tap versus bottle. Get it while you can, because it doesn't last long! Bulldog has an incredible selection of local brews on tap!! Personally, I'm holding out for a ZooBrew or any massive beer tasting event to take place. I'm not familiar with the local breweries since I'm from Memphis, and a tasting will be the economical way to learn. Come out and see Patrick, my favorite bartender at Bulldog BR! Also, don't leave without eating the cheesy Amber Fries!! A great pub in my opinion carries fries with ranch dressing. And Bulldog exceeds expectations with their huge serving of waffle-shaped fries, smothered with cheese served with ranch!! Enjoy a wicked pub!!

Went Wednesday night and was there from 7:30-10:30 and this place was packed the entire time---on a normal wednesday night. Other times I have been here it has been busy as well but you almost always can find a place to sit within 5-10 minutes. Because it is crowded the bulldog is loud. There is a nice patio in the back but this is where the smokers go. Food is average but this is a bar so the food meet expectations.? Oh yeah, you are wondering about the beer? Well, I do not drink beer. Not! This is my experience with beer at the bulldog and the reasons for 3 stars---with all of the beer options they have, there are too many occasions I have to go to a second choice as first choice is not available---maybe high expectations or maybe something else but that's my experience. For example this past wednesday I first asked for a new brew a friend recommended: not your dads root beer---not sure how difficult this is to get, but the bartenders answer was that they ran out. Okay, it may be a difficult one do I go to a more common one : Amstel light. Answer---we do not have any cold ones at the moment----I appreciate the honesty however, 2 requests and struck down on both. Choice 3 was simply what's your coldest beer in there? Again with so many selections I always leave happy however it raises an eyebrow with the number of times I have to go to plan b

The Bulldog located on perkins road near college drive is pretty cool. They have a wide selection of beers and they serve food as well. The outside area is very creatively done with reclaimed beer bottles and is big. Everyone shoukd try the nachos here. Best ive ever had

If you like beer and food then you will love the bulldog! My husband and I went here for a date night. They have a great menu with some kicked up bar food. I love the appetizers, but this time we both went for chicken sandwiches. I had the club and he had a wrap. They were both amazing. We were both in the mood to try many different beers, so we would just have the bartender pick something that would work for us. His recommendations were always spot on! After a while he matched our personalities with his choices and that made the night much better. We drank draft beers that were less than $5 each, what a night! The atmosphere was awesome and the people were great. I'll be back soon.
